Following our press release a few weeks back, we were lucky enough to get a visit from Norm Chan from Tested.com.
See the below video for a review of our new cylindrical controllers, SaberGrip™ and 2-handed SaberGrip™ controllers, as well as our Multi-Pose magnet sockets for Quest’s hand controllers, and new sword fighting and fishing experiences.
Personally, I really like the first model Sabergrips, and not just because of the magnets (though they are a major contributor) but also because it looks like it can stand on it’s own. Also, the extra plastic will probably protect the ring better in case of a fall. I feel like having hand encompassing grips would make it feel like you’re controlling a mech so a few games would actually feel more immersive with those grips. I’m just wondering how much they weigh. If they’re too heavy, that might make longer gaming sessions harder (though with the Quest 2 only having a 2 hour battery life, that might make it a non factor). I really can’t wait to get my hands on these in the future, I believe magnets are EXACTLY what VR will need to further distinguish itself as it’s own medium.
Hi John,
Thanks for your interest and enthusiasm.
Glad you like our earlier “modular haptic controllers” that include optional magnet sockets to join the controllers together on-the-fly during game play.
In contrast, SaberGrip with its simpler cylindrical design, we’re finding it to be popular with VR Arcade partners that are developing sword and melee related experiences.
Both controllers have 2+ hours of battery life.
